To the Editor:
The proposed Uplands East Wind Farm has generated significant discussion throughout our community, and rightfully so. While we recognize the potential economic benefits that wind energy development can bring to rural areas, we believe that adequate setback requirements are essential to protect the health, safety, and quality of life of residents who will live in close proximity to these industrial structures. We are asking the Lafayette County Board of Supervisors to carefully consider the experiences of other Wisconsin counties that have grappled with these same questions and to establish setback distances that reflect the concerns of the people most affected by this development. We are not opposed to renewable energy. We are asking for fairness and protection for rural neighbors.
Sincerely,
A group of concerned Lafayette County residents.
