A Blanchardville man was charged with two counts of physical child abuse in Lafayette County Circuit Court after hitting two children.
Christopher L. Cataloni, 37, is being charged with two Class H felony counts of child abuse-intentionally cause harm. Both carry a $10,000 fine and not more than six years in prison.
According to the criminal complaint, Blanchardville Chief of Police Ryan Kumor received a report concerning Cataloni physically abusing a minor. Victim 1 was found to have a handprint shaped bruise on the side of their face. Additional bruises were found on the victim’s forearm. The victim stated the bruises were from bumping into something. Victim 2 stated that Cataloni disciplines the Victim 1 with a belt.
Video evidence collected showed Cataloni striking the Victim 2 eight times with a brown leather belt after they fell off a chair in March 2025. A second video confirms Cataloni hit the Victim 1 in the face. A third video clip showed Cataloni striking the Victim 1 in the face with an open palm while cursing at the child just days after the abuse was first reported.
Cataloni’s initial appearance will be March 9.
