A/P outlasts Belmont to advance

It was a game where both teams had to figure things out.

“You never really knew when the fouls would be called and when the officials would let us play,” Argyle/Pecatonica girls basketball coach Jen Wellnitz-Krogman after her team outlasted Belmont 59-43. “It was the same for both teams.”

The two teams fought their way to a 30-30 tie with seven minutes left. But the remaining time belonged to A/P who went on a 29-13 run to close out the win.

Four A/P girls reached double figures and the fifth, Brooke Wellnitz, added nine.

Loretta Tisch took scoring honors in a very balanced attack with 15 points. Kylie Butler chipped in 14, Aleah Harris 11 and Avari Steiner 10. Lexi Riechers led Belmont with 12 points and Zoe Wedig netted 10.

The Lady Braves finished their season 12-14 overall. They were fourth in the Six Rivers West at 7-8.
