District completes all focus groups, surveys
The Pecatonica School Board is anticipated to approve the district’s new strategic communications plan at its March meeting after completing focus groups and surveys to collect feedback and ensure the plan will help Pec meet its strategic goals.
The school board provided its input at a special meeting with the district’s communications consultant on Monday, Feb. 16 so members’ thoughts and vision will be reflected in the plan and its direction. The meeting followed a series of other focus groups and surveys with teachers, administration, parents, families, community members, middle and high school students, and alumni that were conducted in January and February.
“The process has been extremely helpful, and we’re very grateful to everyone for taking the time to provide feedback and input,” said Cassie (Colson) Perenchio, a 2005 Pecatonica grad who has been working with the district on communications efforts. “The plan most definitely will reflect the district’s needs, priorities and where Pec wants to go in the long term.”
Superintendent Dani Scott met with Perenchio after the school board’s focus group meeting to review a full draft communications plan, which now is being refined and designed. The final proposed plan, which will be presented to the school board for approval on Monday, March 16, includes a focus on broad communications that tell the district’s unique story and show the value of Pecatonica to all area residents – whether they have children currently enrolled or not.
“This level of focus on communications is an exciting step for Pecatonica,” Scott said. “The emphasis on clarity and collaboration will be so important as we move forward.”
